From the Editorial Desk
I am very delighted to announce the launch of The Journal of Theatrex Asia (ISSN: 2345-7678), a new initiative by Theatrex Asia. This yearly e-journal provides a platform for academic sharing and exchanges in the areas of Performing Arts, Culture, Design and Society, focusing on perspectives from within Asia, which is a fasting developing continent in the cultural ecology. This journal is open-access, and in this very spirit of sharing, we do not see the need to restrict the format and the referencing style the authors choose to present their research. The editorial board consists members of different nationalities and university affiliations in Asia.
This debut issue consists of four different papers, discussing a range of topics, including children theatre, community arts, art spaces in industrial building, and the role of women in art. Although the papers cover research problems from different disciplines and geographic locations, there is one common thread – they offer possibilities, not solutions, and possibilities always give rise to further academic discourse.
The Journal of Theatrex is at an early stage of development. I will like to take this opportunity to thank the authors. Your submission is much appreciated. I will also like to thank my fellow editorial board members, who have taken time off from their busy schedules to review and provide comments to the papers. Finally, I will like to thank my co-editor, Mr. Richard Chua, who is the also the founder of Theatrex Asia, for inviting me to come onboard this new and exciting journey as the journal’s co-editor.
The journal will continue to strive for academic excellence and relevance. In the meantime, if you have any feedback, please feel free to write to us.
Thank you and best regards.
Dr. Benny Lim, Co-editor
