Theatrex Asia Performing Arts Education Survey

Everybody asks this question: Is an academic qualification in the performing arts community in Malaysia important in ensuring employment?

Some says that it is very important; some, not so. Performers need skills more than knowledge, some say; others feel that an academic qualification will validate their skills and knowledge, especially to parents. Teaching in speech and drama is a source of income for performing arts professionals (or semi-professionals) in Malaysia. The ability of the teachers lies in their skills and teaching skills, not to mention their qualifications in speech and drama.

For those who want to pursue a life in academia, tertiary qualification is a necessity.

The aim of this series of survey is to gauge the sentiments and collect information from views of performing arts professionals in the Malaysia performing arts community.
